CaptureMint Privacy Policy

 

1. Overview

CaptureMint is a browser extension for capturing website evidence, annotating screenshots, redacting sensitive areas, creating structured bug reports, copying evidence to the clipboard, exporting files, and keeping a local evidence history.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension processes, why it is processed, where it is stored, and the choices available to users.

2. Information processed by CaptureMint

CaptureMint processes information only when needed to provide user-requested extension features.

Depending on the feature used, this may include:

  • The visible content of the active browser tab when the user starts a capture.

  • Screenshot image data created from the active page.

  • The URL and page title associated with captured evidence.

  • Viewport dimensions, capture dimensions, capture method, browser information, and capture timestamp.

  • User-created annotations, step markers, highlights, boxes, arrows, text, and redactions.

  • Bug-report information entered by the user, such as issue title, severity, status, steps to reproduce, expected result, and actual result.

  • Extension settings, recent evidence metadata, thumbnails, and locally saved report information.

CaptureMint does not continuously monitor browsing activity. Capture access is initiated by the user through the extension or its configured capture shortcuts.

3. How information is used

Information processed by CaptureMint is used only to provide the extension's user-facing functions, including:

  • Capturing website evidence.

  • Creating visible-area, region, full-page, and guided-scroll captures.

  • Displaying and editing captured images.

  • Adding annotations and numbered steps.

  • Redacting sensitive information selected by the user.

  • Creating structured bug reports and capture metadata.

  • Saving recent evidence locally.

  • Copying user-selected images or reports to the clipboard.

  • Exporting evidence and reports as local files.

4. Local storage and data transmission

CaptureMint stores evidence, thumbnails, settings, annotations, and report information locally in the user's browser profile using browser extension storage.

The current version does not require a CaptureMint account or a developer-operated cloud service to perform its core functions. It does not include an advertising SDK or analytics service for the core extension workflow.

The extension does not intentionally transmit captured screenshots, report text, annotations, or evidence history to the CaptureMint developer.

5. Sharing and selling of data

CaptureMint does not sell user data.

CaptureMint does not share captured evidence or report information with advertisers or data brokers.

When a user chooses to copy or export content, that content is placed on the user's clipboard or saved as a file under the user's control. Any later sharing of that exported or copied content is controlled by the user and the destination chosen by the user.

6. Permissions

CaptureMint uses browser extension permissions only to support its capture and evidence workflow:

  • activeTab Provides temporary access to the active page after a user invokes the extension.

  • scripting allows CaptureMint to inject user-requested capture, selection, and scrolling logic into the active page.

  • storage Stores settings, evidence metadata, screenshots, thumbnails, and report information in the browser profile.

  • unlimitedStorage Allows locally stored full-page evidence and evidence history to exceed the browser's smaller default extension-storage quota when necessary.

  • clipboardWrite allows CaptureMint to copy an evidence image or structured report when the user requests it, including the optional copy-after-capture setting.

CaptureMint does not request persistent <all_urls> host access in the current version.

7. Data retention and deletion

Locally saved evidence remains in the user's browser profile until the user deletes individual items, clears the Evidence Library, or removes the extension, and the browser removes the extension-managed local storage according to browser behavior.

Users can delete saved evidence from within CaptureMint's Evidence Library.

8. Security

CaptureMint is designed so that its core evidence workflow can operate locally in the browser. Users should review captures before sharing them and use the redaction tools when screenshots contain confidential, private, or sensitive information.

9. Children's privacy

CaptureMint is a general productivity and developer tool and is not designed specifically for children.

10. Changes to this policy

If CaptureMint's data practices or features materially change, this Privacy Policy should be updated before or when the applicable version is released.
